When we first discovered this
Sumatra coffee, the Japanese had just discovered it as well. Rumor had it
that a single cup of Gayo Mountain was selling for $20 in several major
Tokyo restaurants. The supplies were being bought up in the orient. We have
been fortunate in both the crop being developed to produce more beans and
our supplier reserving out needs.
Gayo Mountain is a volcanic area isolated in a western sector of the
island. It's remote location, air and volcanic ash provide for perfect
growing conditions. Our particular crop is internationally certified to be
organic and free of all chemical additives. It is handpicked and patio
dried. No effort is sparred to make this coffee perfect.
When people ask us for prized Kona coffee, we suggest first trying our
Organic Sumatran. We truly believe it is a better coffee and at 1/3 the
price, it is a bargain. In the wake of the Tsunami, we assume prices will
rise. (portions of the profits from this coffee are helping to restore
normality)
The cup qualities are extraordinary. It is low in acidity, yet it's body
is rich and it's aroma daunting. For those who prefer to sip coffee rather
than gulp it down, this is a treat. A truly great after dinner cordial.
