The Association of Indigenous Agroecological farmers of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta and Serrania del Perija, was created in 1996 with the aim of organizing farming processes and promoting culturl permanence of indigenous and peasant communities in the Northern Zone of Colombia.  Four ethnic groups - the Arhuacos, Kogi, Kankuamo, Wawa- share a holistic view of protection of forests, mountains, rivers and animals by implementing sustainable projects that promote the care and conservation of natural resources while at the same time pmporve living conditions and promote the ancestral legacy of this ancient culture.
