From the Gayo Permata Coop comes this organic gem. The cup has composed sweet spice with hints of dark chocolate.
Permata Cooperative is located in the Gayo region of Western Sumatra. The region has suffered heavily since the mid 70's with a violent earthquake bringing a peace deal to end a long insurgency. Recovery has been slow with coffee production being the prime income option in the area. With demand for the unique bean high, increased prices for this Organic Fair Trade bean have aided in social and economic development that would otherwise have not be achieved. In addition, there has been a recent focus on empowering women by supporting their rolls in manufacturing, processing and financial management.
The heavy body shines with almost a creamlike cup.
